There haven't been any studies to prove this... but i think it does. I notice that if i smoke my hairloss will increase temporarily.. and my scalp feels very tingly during that time. I've been trying my own experiment... i've cut down to only smoking a couple times per month.. and i've noticed a slight improvement. I used to smoke a little every day, and during that time I lost more hair then before i started smoking... so i've cut down to compare..

ive used minox while smoking pot and when i was sober.
smoking pot may increase hairloss during the shedding period (couple weeks into treatment), but for the most part did not affect final outcome. minox has always worked for me - even when i laid off from it for a few months and started again. and the tingly feeling you get on your scalp is due to your increased sensitivity when smoking pot. if you feel the tingle it means minox is working.

Hairloss
Hey I have the same problem, everytime I smoke I lose some hair, I have been smoking almost every week in the past year and my hair is starting to get pretty thin. I do not smoke with tobacco. What causes this, and what can I do to stop it?

Probably the general toxicity of the drug is slowing down cell proliferation in the hair follicles - we know the drug collects in the hair fiber (hence hair testing) so it seems the follicles pick it up quite well. If the slow down in cell proliferation is significant the follicles will shut down and enter a telogen resting state until the environment is more conducive to growth. _________________ Kevin - The management - keratin.com

marijuana and hair loss
I am a female (21 yrs.), and ever since I started smoking pot on a daily basis, I have noticed an alarming rate of hair loss. For me to think that it wasn't related to pot, would be ridiculous, as I take no other medications, am quite healthy, and have no family history of balding. My hair is now about 1\3 the thickness as it originally was, and is continuing to fall out. Some dermatologists I have spoken to suggest that smoking pot causes an imbalance of male hormones within males AND females, which would lead to side effects such as hair loss, sex drive loss in males, increased agressiveness, increased facial acne, and increased facial hair. If you are really concerned about the hair loss, I would suggest going to get your hormone levels tested to see what the doctor might be able to do for you.

i've read a few mary jane books and there's definitely opinion to go both ways.
the marijuana plant is very close to the hemp plant (the difference is primarily measured in the amount of THC present in each plant, and the hemp plant is generally a lot taller and used for its nutritive, textile, and construction uses. also the hemp plant has less than 0.3% THC in it--you can smoke a whole acre and remain sober). interestingly enough, hemp is THE MOST NUTRITIOUS plant known by humans on THIS planet. it has exactly what the human body requires, and very little of what the human body requires little of. furthermore, hemp seed oil was used by ancient Indians and Chinese (rubbed onto the scalp) for HUNDREDS of years as a natural hair growth agent. of course, much time (months) is required to see visible results to the hair--fair enough, considering the fact that once a hair cycle ends it doesn't restart for 3 months.
so, if hemp is good for hair growth, then perhaps marijuana works the same. but, like i said, there are two sides to this story: smoking (anything) in general causes hair loss. studies done with cigarettes suggest that smoking tobacco causes hair loss, among other things. ...so if you drink pot tea, use a vaporizor, or eat pot--anything but toke--you should be fine, right? maybe. maybe it depends on your personal body chemistry. personally, i think that if you smoke with moderation--reduce the amount of burnt toxic crap entering your body--you might even help your hair grow. something that feels good reduces stress and promotes a healthy and harmonious mind-body. also, Indians and Chinese have strong, vibrant hair; and there's something to be said about the fact that these two groups used hemp (eaten, smoked, etc) for almost everything in their DAILY lives, again for hundreds of years.

You shouldn't be smoking pot to begin with. It's your own fault for loosing your hair so get over it and don't whine.
