Eyelashes What can I do
I have had AA since I was very little. I have only ever lost the hair on my head in patches. Now for the past couple of years I have lost it all on my head. I accepted that and started to wear wigs. I am very comfortable with them. NOW... my eyebrows and eyelashes are falling! I am so frustrated. What can I do for eyelashes? Does anyone have any secrets on how to make it look like they are not missing? I have bought the fake ones but it seems they look like just that FAKE! Any help would be greatly apreciated....

I think it is largely a question of finding some natural looking eyelashes. There are many brands out there, some better than others. Perhaps if you ask over at the AA communitiy forums you would get some advice from those in the know. http://communities.msn.com/alopeciaareatasupportcommunity _________________ Kevin - The management - keratin.com

Kevin, I've just started losing my eyelashes too and have only had my second severe case of AA. Will my eyelashes ever grow back?

Certainly lashes can grow back as with any hair affected by AA. However, they are the slowest growing hair follicles we have so if/when they regrow it will be a slow process. _________________ Kevin - The management - keratin.com

Referring back to questions on what to do about falling eyelashes. I I had really long eyelashes until I started to wear fake ones, I loved them so much I have been wearing them for 5 years. But now I regret it because they have thinned to nothing and I can't figure out a way to regrow them back. The question is will they grow back? I seem to have to wear the fake ones because my real ones are now sparse.

Lashes are very slow growing and fairly sensitive so it takes them a long time to regrow after they have been plucked out. If when you pull off the fake ones you are also pulling out the real ones this may be why the lashes are so thin. repeated plucking of the lashes might cause damage to the follicles and they may not grow properly in the future. _________________ Kevin - The management - keratin.com

losing eyelashes
Hello,
I just wanted you to know that there is help to get your eyelashes back. I had been losing mine for the last 6 years. They would fall completely out and then start to come back then fall out again. At times I didn't have any and sometimes I would have them on one eye lid and not the other. Or they would be gone in the middle of my lid. Well I found this lab that will do saliva test on your hormones and make up a transdermal cream that will get your hormones back in order. They fit the cream to your needs. The Web is www.sabresciences.com I think the reason my eyelashes were falling out is that my adreanal glands were worn out from stress. That is the first hormone that they will work on for you. I hope this will help. P. S. It only took a few months for them to come back and they have stayed in for almost a year now.

ask your doctor about a prescription eyedrop called xalatan (latanoprost). it is used to treat glaucoma but one of the side effects listed is that it promotes the growth and darkening of eyelashes. my derm prescribed it for me and have been having some success with it.
