I can understand cutting out bread, gluten producs wheat white flour alcohol, sugar etc but if i remove rice what do I have left to eat, carrots?
Not to be sarcastic but I belive what you are saying I think I found my problem and I want to follow this diet now very strictly. You I believe are right on target with this - I think it will help my problem for sure

Daily meals...
Hi there,
Here's an example of a daily meal plan:
breakfast ideas:
-fruit smoothie: bananas (frozen taste best), berries (frozen), soymilk/almond milk
-hearty oatmeal: oats topped with raisins, dates, ground flax seeds and walnuts)
-gluten free pancakes (look for the mix at your local health food store... I had to find one without rice since I also have the scalp reaction to rice). It is produced by a company called "Bobs Red Mill".
-quinoa porridge: you can find this at your local health food store... It's almost like oatmeal, but made with a grain called quinoa.
-grits: porridge made with corn
-granola topped with soy or almond milk
-make sure you get some FRUITS with your breakfast
lunch ideas:
-mexican: beans, guacamole, salsa, corn chips, salad
-salad: add beans, corn and nuts to make this a filling dish
-vegetable tamales
-italian: grilled polenta, portobellos with marinara and a salad
-lentil soup with an apple and a banana
-vegetable soup with an apple and a banana and some raw almonds
-split pea soup
-indian food: there are many great bean and vegetable dishes
-hummus and tortilla chips with fruit and snacks
dinner ideas:
-sweet potatoes, grilled veggies with tofu
-pot of grains (millet and quinoa) with chickpeas and a salad, top it all with homemade creamy tahini dressing (tahini, water, garlic, salt, spices)
-always have a pot of grains around (millet, quinoa, amaranth, etc), so you can throw together a quick meal
-stir fry: veggies, tofu, soy meats (make sure they don't have gluten), sauces, over some grains
-squash stuffed with grains, raisins and nuts topped with sweet sauce
-hearty chili: tomato base, beans, corn, onions, veggies, soy meat (check for gluten)
-hearty creative soups
-quinoa with peas, top with nutritional yeast (health food store) and some gluten free soy sauce... so yummy!
-make your own eclectic dinner with fruits, veggies, homemade hummus, mango salsa, tortilla chips, nuts, etc...
Snacks:
-raw nuts (walnuts, almonds, cashews, etc).
-FRUIT! Fill up on lots of bananas, mangos, apples, papayas, berries, etc... This is truly the healthiest food.
-carrot sticks and tortilla chips with hummus
-popcorn (put olive oil, salt and nutritional yeast on for an AMAZING flavor!)
-snap peas
-lara bars
-organic bars
-trail mix
-dried papayas (get un-sulfured from the health food store)... be careful, these can be really sugary, so don't get too carried away
-smoothies! try a chocolate/acai smoothie (you can get this brazilian fruit frozen at health food stores in packets)... use use packet acai, one frozen banana, two spoonfuls of cocoa powder, and soymilk/almond milk... this is soo good!
-granola (gluten free)
-etc...!
Let me know how it goes for you! It is definitely a hard adjustment for me, but it is worth it because I eat better, I feel better and more importantly, my hair and scalp issue is better! I don't know why I am intolerant to rice... I can only guess that it was caused by years of ignoring my gluten allergy (you can acquire other allergies when you ignore a gluten allergy). All I know is that this diet has been working for me... I know it's tough. But, if you do it right (meaning, lots of fruits and veggies and good stuff), you'll probably feel much better too!
Also, I'm not sure if you're interested in some other secrets I learned, but I found this stuff called "psyllium husk", which is sort of a colon cleanser. Anyone who has had food allergies probably has some intestinal issues, and this stuff with clean you out. Just add a little bit to a smoothie or to some water, and it will really clean out your intestines. Be careful with it, and don't overuse it. You can get it from ANY natural foods store. I just bought a couple spoonfuls from the bulk section, and I have used it to really flush out my system. The large intestine (colon) has lots of toxins, which likely contribute to our scalp/skin/hair and other issues... So, it's nice to clean out a little bit.
Also, you will want to supplement your diet with the following things: ground flax seeds (or flax oil), B12 pills (every few days), acidophilus (helps get your ratio of good bacteria back).
I would also do research on a "raw" diet... I have checked out these websites, and they're very compelling.
OKAY, I JUST SPENT A LONG TIME WRITING THIS TO HELP YOU GUYS, SO TELL ME IF THIS WORKS FOR YOU AT ALL! I AM CURIOUS!
Take care and good luck! The only reason I'm taking the time to write this is because I know how desperate I was when I was in that state, so I want to help others who feel that way.

Thank you K. That is a beautiful and yummy looking menu. I know its an adjustment but hell when your dealing with pain, a lifestyle change is inevitable - for me its change or die - honestly my pain is that violent.
I now am almost certain my problem is scalp fungus. .
I need to adopt a new diet plan and am going to print out your menu and stick to it. I believe that its a life long lifestyle change - and its one that is worth it. For me though I dont think I could knock out this fungus on my own or with suppliments - I needed aggressive antifungal thearapy. I will follow the diet for a lifetime if this pain stops - I will keep updated
K thank you - this will help many people - I guess its more common then not but if your having a violent burning scalp, brows and face please ask for a woods lamp exam before you even take a biopsy its quick and painless

Let me know how it goes!
Great! Let me know how it goes! Good luck!
This is one of those conditions where internet research and trial and error have been my best friend! But, after years of trying to figure it out, I'm finally better.
When I first got this, I thought I had a fungal infection... In fact, for months, I tried antibiotics, antifungals, etc... None worked. That was how I realized that it had to do with what I was putting in my body.
Take care!

RE - Go Vegan
I would just like to remind everyone that a dietary connection has neither been proved or disproved. I personally don't think there is one, but that doesn't mean it's not worth trying. I have actually considered the role of diet in my LPP many times and haven't found dietary changes to make any difference in my case. I encourage others, however, to try this if ther are inclinded and post their experiences. It takes about 3 months for a change in the scalp to take hold due to a new medication, so i think it's reasonable to assume any diet will need to be sustained without interruption for 3 months.
Food allergies, such as those to Gluten, are caused by t-cells attacking the gluten and resulting in inflammation. Since this isn't happening with LPP, if there is an allergy, it must be due to a connection more mysterious.

Well an update, after going on an anticandida diet plan for months, doing everything totally right, my problem has not changed one bit. Whatever this is has gotten much worse now, in fact I believe there is no hope for a normal life again. The pain is excrutiating causing color change in the scalp nothing works nothing at all and half my hair is gone.

I used to have a painful sculp, followed by the loss of hair for about a year ago. My derm. couldn't help much, and my blood tests were all good. At a local drugstore I was adviced to take Vitamins for Hair by Natural Wealth. They work for me!!! I don't know what is so special about them, as I have tried several vitamin /mineral supplements and none worked. Please try these, I cross fingers it helps you guys as well.

I am so happy to have found this site!

I have been suffering from an achy scalp for over 2 years now and it has gotten so bad lately that I just cant take it anymore. Also have started some itching recently too, no hairloss at this point though. Up until tonight I have not been able to find another person who knew what I was talking about or any signs or symptoms of this. I am so happy to know that there are other people who suffer from this and know what I am going through. I have been to the doctors a few times about this and they never have any idea at all, one doctor said to start parting my hair on the other side..as we know that didnt work! I am just reading through everyones comments now and will definately start with some of these recommendations tomorrow. Am looking to learning more on here and thank you so much!

Emmie there are dozens of things that can cause scalp pain including hormonal imbalances. In fact my derm told me that in women in menopause its very common. Dont know your age but just wanted to mention that if its of any help to you.
